About me:

I'm a crafty artist who loves New England, nature, lighthouses, stained glass, and swirly flourishes like damask. I’m a wife, mother of two, sister, auntie, niece, cousin, and friend.

My shop, Working Pretty, provides unique, beautiful, functional art in the form of fabric lampshades. The things I love inspire all my shade designs and I am constantly coming up with new ideas to create. I opened Working Pretty because I believe that when you surround yourself with beautiful things they inspire creativity and help you be more productive.

How I started:

Over 20 years ago, I learned how to make cut-n-pierced paper lampshades with my mother. I love the way light filters through the cut-n-pierced shade yet I believe fabric lasts longer and is easier to clean. So, with a whole lot of experimentation, trial and error, I developed a technique to cut my designs from fabric for lampshades. The lampshades I create have better luminosity than paper and the design is really highlighted through the fabric. To make them even more special and detailed, I hand paint the fabric on some styles to resemble stained glass.

After making many lampshades for family and friends, I am happy to offer them to customers who will enjoy my “art shades”.
